dpick / Garlic Chili Shrimp with Avocado Puree


  • 3 haas avocados
  • 3 chopped cloves of garlic (divided)
  • 3 tsb Cilantro
  • salt and pepper
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3 Tsp canola oil
  • 1 french baguette
  • 3/4 pound peeled and devained shrimp


Avocado Puree

  1. Combine avocados, 1 chopped clove of garlic, finely chopped cilantro, salt and pepper, and lime juice in food processor
  2. Process till smooth


  1. Sauté red pepper flakes in oil over medium heat for 30 seconds
  2. Add shrimp and cook until just about done (about 3 minutes). Season with salt and pepper
  3. Add the remaining garlic and stir to combine with shrimp
  4. Remove shrimp when garlic has become fragrant (about 30 seconds)


  1. Slice the baguette
  2. Take a spoonful of the avocado puree and put it on the slice of bread, top with 2 or 3 of the shrimp
  3. Repeat until shrimp are gone
